Dr. Jari J√§rvinen founded Silicom in 2010. Based on his 25 years experience on mathematical modeling and numerical simulation of crystal growth, Silicom has offered customer-oriented  solutions in Czochralski, HTCVD, sublimation, Bridgman, Vertical Gradient Freeze and Heat Exchanger Methods for silicon, silicon-carbide, NiMnGa and sapphire, mainly by open source software.

Customer companies and universities in Europe and the US in IC, solar, MEMS, magnetic shape memory (MSM) and power electronics have benefitted from Silicom services in crystal growth hot-zone designs, improvements in crystal growing speed, characterization of melt flow and mass transport, minimization of crystal thermal stresses, and calibration of magnetic fields.

Replacing commercial software with open-source, Silicom has enabled a chain of open-source software, and a path towards multiple simultaneous serial and parallel simulations, cost savings (no annual license fees), and numerically realized process phenomena, which could not be found with commercial software.
